We went to visit some enormous Northern Rata Trees near Lake Okataina. These trees will be thousands of years old but are seriously under threat from browsing by Australian Oposums.
The route starts off along the Eastern Okataina Walkway which is a easy well maintained track. However the two routes up to the Ratas are only lightly marked with white permolat so care is needed when finding the route.
