We started this trip at 8:30pm on Friday evening after work and walked into the Upper Whirinaki Hut by torch light.
After that was a nice relaxing weekend with fairly short days through the bush clad valleys of the Whirinaki Forest Park.
We spent our second night at the Mangamate Hut which has recently been relocated to a supurb location up on the ridge tops.
From there it was an east walk down the Mangamate Stream before joining up with the main Whirinaki track at the bridge, and then out to the River Rd carpark.
